AION 2 Release Date and Launch Time — Full Global Schedule

AION 2 arrives worldwide on October 5, 2026, free to play, on PC only. Founder’s Pack owners get in five days early on September 30. This page lays out every confirmed date in the global rollout, what each stage actually unlocks, and — just as importantly — what NCSOFT has not announced yet, so you don’t plan around a rumour.

When exactly does AION 2 launch?

October 5, 2026, as a free-to-play PC MMORPG on Steam and the NCSOFT PURPLE launcher. NCSOFT confirmed the date at gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026. The exact server-open hour has not been published, so treat October 5 as a calendar date for now.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. MMO launches almost always open at a fixed instant worldwide rather than at local midnight, which means your region’s clock time could land on October 5 or October 6. Until NCSOFT publishes the hour, the honest answer is that you know the day but not the minute — and any site quoting a precise countdown is extrapolating.

What is the full global rollout schedule?

Three milestones, and they are not interchangeable. The Launch Scale Test on September 17–18, 2026 was a limited infrastructure stress test, now over, whose progress does not carry over. Advance Access from September 30 to October 4, 2026 gives Founder’s Pack owners five days of live progression. The Global Launch on October 5, 2026 is the free opening.

The Launch Scale Test was exactly that — a test, not a head start. Characters created there are gone. If you missed it, you have lost nothing except a preview of the client.

Who gets in on September 30?

Anyone who buys a Founder’s Pack, at any of the three tiers: Standard ($24.99), Deluxe ($49.99), or Ultimate ($99.99). All three include the same five-day Advance Access window — the tiers differ in cosmetics and bonus items, not in when you can log in.

Two rules catch people out:

1. Advance Access is platform-locked. A pack bought on Steam is played through Steam; a pack bought through PURPLE is played through the PURPLE launcher. Pick the storefront you actually want to launch the game from.
2. Advance Access is not a separate game. You are playing the live global build five days early, and that progress carries into October 5.

What NCSOFT has not announced

Being explicit about the gaps is the point of this section — these are the details most likely to be invented elsewhere. The exact server-open hour, the preload date, the final world names, the character pre-creation window and any console or mobile client are all still unannounced, so nothing here should be planned around yet.

On languages, the Steam store page lists eight: English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Korean — with English, Japanese and Korean carrying full audio. Chinese is not among them, which matters if you planned to play alongside a Chinese-speaking group. NCSOFT’s June 5 press release separately mentioned ten in-game languages; that figure and the store list do not match, so we report the store data and flag the discrepancy rather than merging the two into one claim.

Which regions can play at launch?

The global service covers North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, on dedicated servers per region. The original April 2026 announcement named Japan specifically; the June press release broadened that wording to Asia. Server selection is permanent in most NC MMOs, and the roster is not public yet.

Is the global version the same game as Korea and Taiwan?

No — and this is the single biggest source of bad information about AION 2 right now. The global service is a separate build with fresh progression, and it starts on a different content schedule than the KR/TW service that has been live since November 19, 2025.

That means any guide written from Korean or Taiwanese footage describes a version of the game you will not be playing on day one. Class balance, gear tiers, and progression pacing all differ. What should you do before October 5?

Wishlist the game on Steam, sign up for the newsletter, check your machine against the PC system requirements, and pick a class skeleton — not a build that does not exist yet. All four are preparation you can do while the client is still unavailable.

1. Wishlist the game on Steam (AppID 3393110). Wishlisting costs nothing and notifies you the moment the client is downloadable. It does not, on its own, grant any in-game reward.
2. Sign up for the newsletter at aion2.plaync.com. Subscribers receive in-game launch gifts — the Pagati companion pet plus a choice of one further pet. See pre-registration rewards for what is confirmed.
3. Check your machine against the PC system requirements. The official Steam sheet asks for a GTX 1050 Ti and 8 GB at minimum, an RTX 2070 and 16 GB recommended, and 100 GB of space — so launch night is not the first time you find out. Note also that the game is Windows only; no macOS or Linux client exists.
4. Pick a class skeleton, not a build. There is no verified global tier list yet, because nobody outside Asia has played the retail build. The classes overview covers all eight launch classes by role and weapon, which is enough to choose a main without gambling on numbers that do not exist yet.
