AION 2 Server Status and Maintenance — What Is Confirmed

FAQ

Is AION 2 down right now?
No. Before October 5, 2026 there is no live global AION 2 service to be down. The Launch Scale Test client (Steam AppID 4972320) closed on September 18 and the retail app (3393110) is still unreleased, so a status page showing the game as offline is describing an empty slot, not an outage.
When is the next AION 2 maintenance?
Not announced. As of September 22, 2026 NCSOFT has published no maintenance window for Advance Access on September 30, none for the October 5 launch, and no weekly maintenance cadence for the global service. The three maintenance and hot fix notices on record all belong to the September 17-18 Launch Scale Test.
Was there maintenance during the AION 2 Launch Scale Test?
Yes, three notices: New LST Servers Opening and Scheduled Maintenance on September 17, then a Hot Fix Update on September 18. All three were published inside the playtest client (AppID 4972320), between 14:13 UTC on September 17 and 03:57 UTC on September 18.
Why can I not find AION 2 maintenance notices on Steam?
Because they were posted to the playtest app feed, not the main AION 2 feed. The retail app (3393110) carried 12 posts as of September 22, 2026 and none of them is a maintenance or server status notice. Aggregator sites copy the main feed, which is why the downtime is hard to find.
Where do I check AION 2 server status?
There is no official status page. Use the in-game world list, the Steam news feed for AppID 3393110 and AppID 4972320, the official site at aion2.plaync.com, and the official Discord linked from the Steam store page. During the test, the playtest app feed was the only place notices appeared.
What time do AION 2 servers open on October 5?
Not announced. NCSOFT has confirmed the dates for Advance Access (September 30) and launch (October 5) but not the hour, not a per-region conversion, and not a server-open time for either milestone. Any countdown claiming a specific hour is an estimate.
Do the Korea and Taiwan maintenance times apply to the global server?
No. The Korea and Taiwan service is a separate build that launched in November 2025, and its reported weekly Wednesday maintenance is a pattern for that service only. No maintenance cadence, window length or day of week has been announced for the global service.

AION 2 has no live global server yet, so there is no outage to report. As of September 22, 2026 every server event on record happened inside the September 17-18 Launch Scale Test: one scheduled maintenance window and one hot fix. No maintenance has been announced for Advance Access on September 30 or for the October 5 launch.

Has AION 2 had any maintenance yet?

Yes — three notices, all during the Launch Scale Test, and all published inside the playtest client rather than the main AION 2 news feed. Together they cover a mid-session server expansion, the maintenance that closed Day 1, and a hot fix pushed before Day 2.

Notice Published (UTC) Feed What it said
New LST Servers Opening: Day 1 Sep 17, 14:13 Playtest app Four EU worlds added: Vaizel, Triniel, Kaisinel, Lumiel
Scheduled Maintenance: September 17 Sep 17, 19:01 Playtest app Login unavailable; window Sep 17, 12:00 PM PDT; duration approximately 24 hours
AION 2 Hot Fix Update Sep 18, 03:57 Playtest app Quest interaction radius; appearance tickets blocked below level 10; chat reporting and crash fixes

The notice was time-stamped 19:01 UTC — 12:01 PM PDT, the minute Day 1 closed — because it described the 24-hour gap before Day 2 opened at 12:00 PM PDT on September 18. The playtest schedule page has both windows in every timezone.

These notices were never posted to the main AION 2 feed

This is the detail behind almost every dead end. The retail app (AppID 3393110) carried 12 posts as of September 22, 2026 — trailers, pre-download, Day 1, Day 2, the closing post and a pre-release FAQ. None is a maintenance or status notice. The three notices above exist only in the playtest app feed (AppID 4972320), so sites mirroring the main feed had nothing to copy.

Why did AION 2 maintenance searches spike in September?

Because the test produced real downtime that almost nobody could look up. It ran only 12 hours across two days, the servers were closed for roughly 24 hours in between, and a mandatory hot fix download landed in that gap before Day 2.

Day 1 ended at 12:00 PM PDT with the maintenance notice time-stamped a minute later, so anyone logging back in hit a closed door. The main feed stayed silent, so aggregators had nothing to relay and searches returned generic MMO articles. NCSOFT’s only queue statement came in its September 19 closing post: a priority queue for accounts in good standing when a server is full, described as a privilege rather than a guarantee.

Is maintenance announced for the October 5 launch?

No. As of September 22, 2026 NCSOFT has published no maintenance window, no server-open hour and no weekly maintenance cadence for the global service. Nothing has been announced for Advance Access on September 30 either. Dates are confirmed; clocks and downtime are not.

The “20 servers” figure that keeps getting miscited

You will see “AION 2 opens with 20 servers, 10 for Elyos and 10 for Asmodians” quoted as a global launch fact on several fan and gold-selling sites. It is not a global figure.

That number comes from an NCSOFT press release titled “AION 2 Launches Server and Character Name Reservation Event”, dated October 16, 2025 — the Korea/Taiwan service’s server and character-name reservation event, which ran October 16–20, 2025 (KST). The quote is real; the service it describes is not the one launching on October 5, 2026.

The global service’s server count, world names, and faction allocation are all unpublished. When a number is carried over from the KR/TW announcement without that label, treat it as a misattribution rather than a leak.

For comparison, the Korea and Taiwan service has run a weekly Wednesday maintenance, a reported pattern for that build. It says nothing about global: separate builds, separate service teams. The release date and launch time guide covers what is confirmed for October 5, and the server list and regions guide tracks the unpublished world names.

Why most AION 2 server status pages are wrong

Because there is nothing to monitor yet, and several are not monitoring anything. Checked on September 22, 2026, the pages ranking for server status split into generic templates that default to a green badge and pages about a different AION 2 service. Here is what they show.

Page What it shows
talentbuilds.com/aion2/server-status “Last updated: Never”; empty Elyos and Asmodian tables; still tracks Taiwan
outagescope.com/status/aion-2 Template; 0-2 reports in 24 hours; stale description; Android art
status.technobezz.com/aion-2 Same template; release date “January 1, 1970”; platforms Android and iOS
mobilematters.gg Article dated November 19, 2025; treats AION 2 as mobile
aion2meta.wiki/server-status Honest outlier; says the test ended and no global server is live

Two checks separate a real status page from a template: a real one names the world, gives a start time and cites its source. A template shows a badge with no world and no time — a default, not a measurement.

A second trap: searching for AION 2 weekly maintenance surfaces the original AION notice board at aiononline.plaync.com/en-us/board/ascendnotice/list, which lists a Weekly Maintenance post dated September 15, 2026. That is AION 1.

How this page is maintained: by hand, not by a monitor. It was checked against NCSOFT’s feeds on September 22, 2026 and will be revised at Advance Access on September 30 and at launch.

How do I check AION 2 server status myself?

There is no official AION 2 status page, so the reliable sources are the ones carrying first-party notices. The in-game world list shows what is up right now; the Steam feeds, the official site and the official Discord carry what NCSOFT has announced.

Channel How to reach it What it gives you
In-game world list Character select Which worlds are up and their population flags
Steam news, retail app store.steampowered.com/news/app/3393110 Launch, preload and service announcements
Steam news, playtest app store.steampowered.com/news/app/4972320 Where the September notices appeared
Official site aion2.plaync.com Teaser page today; no notice board or status page yet
Official support help.plaync.com Account, payment and installation issues
Official Discord Steam store page link row Player reports and staff posts during outages

Both Steam feeds follow one URL pattern: store.steampowered.com/news/app/ plus the AppID. Swapping 3393110 for 4972320 moves between the retail and playtest feeds — and during the test, those two carried different information.

What should I do if launch day goes wrong?

Separate a queue from an outage before touching anything. The four situations below are general MMO launch behaviours, not AION 2 findings — the global build has not opened, so none of them has been observed in it. Treat them as triage order.

Symptom What it usually means First move
Queue with a position number Server is up and full Stay in the queue; good standing queues by priority
Cannot connect, or a maintenance message Login or server down for everyone Check the Steam feeds and Discord first
Characters missing at character select Wrong region or world, or the other platform Check the region selector
Latency and disconnects Local routing or a busy world Try another world, then restart the launcher

A queue number means the servers are healthy and full, so leave the queue alone. A client that cannot reach the login service at all, with no queue and no world list, is the shape of a real outage — that is when to refresh the official channels.

Scheduled maintenance for live MMOs typically runs a few hours, longer for major updates; NCSOFT has published no duration expectations for the global service, so any figure quoted today is an assumption. Preload details are equally open — see the preload and download guide and the Advance Access guide.

Sources and verification

  • Steam news API, AppID 4972320, read Sep 22, 2026 — notice text and timestamps of Sep 17 14:13 UTC, Sep 17 19:01 UTC and Sep 18 03:57 UTC
  • Steam news API, AppID 3393110, same day — 12 posts, no maintenance or status notice
  • Steam announcements, “Launch Scale Test Comes to a Close” (Sep 19) and “Steam Pre-release FAQ” (Sep 16), 2026
  • Steam store and news pages for both AppIDs; third-party status pages named above — all checked Sep 22, 2026
  • Original AION notice board, aiononline.plaync.com/en-us/board/ascendnotice/list — AION 1, not AION 2

Evidence level: Official for the maintenance history. Every notice title, timestamp and content line in the first table comes from NCSOFT’s own announcement feed, read through the Steam news API rather than copied from coverage. Unannounced items are listed as not announced because a search of both feeds returned nothing. Competitor descriptions, the triage table and maintenance durations are labelled as observed or general guidance.
